hi!

i want to ask if there is someone here that can share their experince with the loss calculation on a hubdyno.

i get very stable whp readings but the loss calculation is very different from run to run causing the engine hp to be very different from in the different runs

is there an other way that loss calculation should be done on hubdyno than on chassis dyno?

regards

Maybe you're putting into neutral too late for coastdown, and automatic selection catches some part that is not yet a free spinning coastdown. You can right click the run in analyze and use Loss Model tool to check this. If that's the case, then in SETTINGS / Misc you can adjust the automatic coastdown selection to start later (use lower number).

ok

thanks for the answer

today i tried reducing the loss delay number

but it gives me very big loss  numbers

is the loss power combinated from inertial loss and loss measured at the load cell?

The coastdown losses are calculated mainly from hub moment of inertia and deceleration rate, but the load cell reading is not discarded.

Please post screenshot of your selection in the loss model tool.

@ronperek

here is a photo of the loss calculator

when i looked through my analyze of some runs i saw that the torque controller is activated during coast down even if i dont set the marking in the ramp run settings

so maybe that is the problem' i will look through my settings again

thanks for the replies👍

This loss stage selection is definitely not correct. Only the part when the loss power is steadily decreasing should be selected. Set the automatic selection threshold to 0.5

@ronperek

ok

now i tried to use the 0.5 treshold

but that gives some wild losses🙂- suddently my old car from 1968 did put out 245hp😮🙂

i still think i have a wrong setting somewhere

as you can see from my attached picture the brakes turns off at the start of coast down

but the turns on after a short moment
